Pencils, Mulberries and Salty Tears

Pencils, Mulberries and Salty Tears

Collaborations have always been at the heart of our brand and we love the process and challenge of creating something stylish and delicious with like-minded people.

From pencils to salty tears, here are some of our favourite projects to date...

12 Triangles, 2024

12 Triangles bakery in Edinburgh have been friends and customers for many years, and their bakeries are always a must on any visit we make to the town. We batted around ideas for a collaboration for a while before settling on a combination of their amazing 'miche crumb' - a mouth-watering combination of their miche bread, honey & butter - sprinkled over our 70% Virungan dark chocolate. It’s so good, be ready to fight for the last piece.

Still in production and available at Twelve Triangles stores

Mr Bingo, 2024

Our most hilarious collaboration to date is for London's great artist-humourist-provocateur Mr Bingo
As with much of his work, it's sweary, so we bleeped it for your modesty...
'Sad F**k - Milk Chocolate with 'Salty Tears' (aka sea salt). Much loved by Mr Bingo fans.

Still in production, but only available at Mr Bingo's London Store:
46 Amwell St, London EC1R 1XS

Present and Correct, 2020

One of our most fun, and challenging, projects… to create a pencil flavoured chocolate bar for the stylish stationary store Present & Correct. How does one recreate the woody taste and texture of a pencil n a chocolate bar? How to make it edible, let alone delicious? Initial tests with pine extracts proved unsatisfying, and it was hard to shake the cleaning-product association so ubiquitous to a strong pine aroma… We eventually settled on a subtle combination of cedar and pine oils, with a scattering of roasted cocoa nibs for crunch.
It’s just like chewing on your favourite pencil, but much more delicious and without all the splinters!
Still going strong and available at presentandcorrect.com

Mulberry England, 2020

Mulberry are the epitome of British luxury design and craftsmanship, so it was a real dream moment when an email from them appeared expressing their desire to collaborate on a bespoke bar for their Christmas campaign.

There were various flavour ideas on the table, but to us it was a perfect opportunity to combine organic black mulberries with dark chocolate. And sure enough, it turned out to be one of our favourite ever combinations: these decadent and chewy, flavoursome berries are simply the perfect companion to a fruity dark chocolate like our 70% Virunga.

Unfortunately it was a limited edition bar, but we still periodically consider adding this flavour into our range… So delicious!

Selfridges & Co, 2021

While undergoing renovation on their iconic Birmingham Bullring building in 2021, in order to hide the on-going works Selfridges commissioned city-born artist Osman Yousefzada to create a design for a canvas wrap to cover the entire building. Alongside this, Selfridges asked Ocelot to create a matching chocolate bar using Yousefzada’s design, as a take-home memento of this design moment.

Selfridges & Co were our first major stockist, supporting us right back in our humble beginnings, so they hold a dear place in Ocelot’s history. We were delighted to be chosen to help mark this occasion for them.

It was not an elaborate flavour - our Femme milk chocolate infused with sea salt - but the simple sophistication of the chocolate complimented Yousefzada’s popping and playful design on the packaging.
